How do I create a WiFi hotspot in laptop (Windows 7+) ?

You can create hotspot straight from your windows 7 laptop, without using any softwares.

To do this

1. Start cmd and Run as administrator

Click on the start menu, write cmd in the search box, cmd.exe will appear, write click on it and click Run as Administrator

2. Check drivers: netsh wlan show drivers

On the command prompt write : netwh wlan show drivers

This will show info related to your wifi device

3. Create wifi:

Lets consider wifi name (ssid) is : wifi-windows, and password : 12345678, You can change “wifi-windows” and “12345678”

On the command prompt write: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=wifi-windows key=12345678

4. Start wifi Note: You must turn on wifi !

On the command prompt write : netsh wlan start hostednetwork

5. Share Internet for wifi:

Open: Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Chang adapter settings > Network connecting (Right click) > Properties > Sharing (Tab).

Tick box -> choose : Local Area Connection 2 / Wireless Network Connection 2

6. Stop

To stop hotspot : On the command prompt write: wifi netsh wlan stop hostednetwork

7. Delete

Command Prompt : netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow ssid=wifi-windows key=12345678

8. Shortcut

+ Right click desktop / Shortcut / import: netsh wlan start hostednetwork / Next import: Turn on wifi / Finish.

+ Right click desktop / Shortcut / import: netsh wlan stop hostednetwork / Next import: Turn off wifi / Finish.

+ Admin for shortcut Right click shortcut / Properties / Advanced… / Tick Run as administrator/ ok / Apply / ok.
